With the start of the year, we tend to overwork ourselves in the beginning months of the year. This post will focus on the ways you can ease up in order to not overwork yourself.

Get off social media

Social media in this day and age is a pioneer of sharing knowledge and receiving information. As a creative you have to be online networking and breaks from social media assists in teaching you how to manage your time. Sometimes it can take a toll on you, if you allow everything on social media to overwhelm you.

Taking a break from online platforms is necessary to boost yourself mentally and they do not have to be too long. Starting from two-three days off or even two-three weeks if you are capable of not posting and being online all the time is a good start.

Take a trip

Trips are another form that can done to achieve ease and they allow you to relax and reflect on things. They can take up various forms:

Taking some time off during the weekend is one of the way you can relax. Taking the time to either go to a spa or even restaurant with friends or alone can help you detox.

Planning a road trip within your own country can put you in a proper frame of mind. Going to the countryside/village or a tourist destination you have not been to can easily become a road trip.

Less money is spent paying for travel fares as the costs are cheap. With family or friends you get to experience the joy of being somewhere new whilst driving.

If you’re a person who is more set on achieving goals or traveling, a gap year could be an option for you to consider.

Gap years are not exclusive to just university students backpacking in the countrysides, mountains etc. They can be utilised to both travel, make money and experience different lifestyles that put your own personal goals into perspective.

There are many programs for volunteer work that allows you to get payed whilst you travel to different countries.

Spending time with family can take a load off the stress you have. Planning a get together, a movie night or even a games night with friends or family can really help you recharge.

Meditate

Meditation is the process of quieting the mind in order to spend time in thought for relaxation or religious/spiritual purposes. The goal is to attain an inner state of awareness and intensify personal and spiritual growth. This may seem unfamiliar but it can also help you recharge. Find a quiet place where you live and take the time to sit down and do breathing exercises. From starting as little as 10 minutes at first to 25 minutes a day can help you recharge. Search up on Youtube or even Google on tutorials or the basics of meditation.

Meditation has been scientifically proven by ResearchGate, NCBI, Science Direct etc to have benefits for a person. Some of which include that meditation; reduces stress, improves focus, improves memory and improves your ability to make decisions.

Humans are not machines and need to recharge from time to time. It’s rewarding to work hard for what we want however, we sometimes have to take breaks.

Take the time to detox and treat yourself once in a while. It doesn’t have to be all work and no play majority of the time.
